December 2018

Our next meeting – Saturday 15th December at St Mary Magdalen’s is our

                                                      Christmas Social.
It was talked of at our last meeting so this is just a reminder that we need you to bring:
a small plate of food  - your choice

ü  We shall be having a quiz – general knowledge and sewing- prize
ü  A raffle – with a £10  prize
ü  A competition – best Cracker - bring your Christmas Crackers made for Nov meeting and we shall all have a vote for the best one – another prize

There seemed to be lots of enthusiasm for Elizabeth’s Making Crackers in November so hopefully we shall see a really good variety of styles. Please bring ours.

We also have our Monday Workshop on Monday 17th December,  Val is continuing with her November piece on French and Bullion Knots but naturally if you want to bring your own project – your choice.

And looking forward to our January meeting 19th – Sara Maycock will be talking about the Weavers Guild- more details next month.

I’m looking forward to seeing you all on 15th but if you cannot be there

Have a wonderful Christmas and a very Happy New Year.

Meeting Dates for rest of 2018 programme

Newsletter No 6 - 2nd June

Our next Saturday Meeting 16th June  'sets and Scraps' has been posponed, unfortunately our speaker Wendy Annis is to have some hosp[ital treatment and will not be able to be with us that day.  We send her our best wishes and look forward to seein gher soon.  We shall also be talking to her about giving us that talk in the next programme.

Instead we shall complete the Birds Display for the Walsgrave Hospital.  I am sure you remeber the birds we made in March, now we want to complete that work and ask that you help us create leaves, flowers, butterflies etc that will take the whole image up a level or 2 as well as promoting our skills.  The display case we are to use is 5 x 3 x 1.5 feet  we are to hang the birds from a tree and then fill in the rest of the space with jungle/tropical inspired theme - hand or machine stitched.

Last month's meeting - sorry we had to cancell - but it was thought that most would prefer to watch the wedding and see the dress.

Visit to the Belgrade Theatre Wardrobe Department 24th May.   It was small and exclusive group who delighted in the the range of costumes and the explanation of the development of the costumes for the next Christmas Panto.  The Wardrobe Mistress explained her dilemna in trying to complete the designer's vision for the look of the production with a bugdet of about £13,000 - a real diplomatic task ahead..

It was a fascinating visit and well recommended if any one gets the opportunity in the future.

The General Data Protecdtion Regulation Act.  this new regulation which came into operation on 25th May  means that we need to make clear our intentions that we only hold such information onour members as we need to run the club and that no-one else will have access to thata information with out each indivuals permission to disclose.  We are asking everyone to complete their membership forms early (due in September) so that we conform.
